Winter solstice has been and the days are now lengthening again. I must confess ( and this blog is meant to convey truthful content and commentary) that I have struggled to adjust to the dark evenings and colder weather. I stand on the brow of a small hill on a genteel suburban street. It is just past sunrise and the light appears liquid and effervescent. Birds call to each other in enthusiasm for the new day. I look one way. I see mist rolling over the hills, creeping down to the plain below. I
