Zap Brothers at the Ed Castle

Mondays need never be blue or stormy again.

Monday evenings are usually quiet in Adelaide. UNESCO City of Music it may be, but not on a Monday  as the vibrant local music scene takes a break. So when the city’s oldest pub, the Edinburgh Castle, invited me to host a live music evening on Mondays, I took the plunge. It has long been an ambition of mine to run such an event. I remember trawling the pubs of south London looking for an opening amongst the reluctant and the indifferent. For all its world city status, London’s local music scene is in sad decline. Not so here.

Music on Monday at the Ed Castle
My tasks at the Ed are to select and book the artists, do the sound and host the evening. It’s such a good chance to meet many musicians and also to play a bit myself. My first evening saw my own Doctor D set, singer songwriter and storyteller Paula Standing, with the newly formed Zap Brothers (pictured above) as headliners. It’s fun to seek out local musical talent and even more fun to meet and hear them.

If you’re in Adelaide drop by- great music, cheap food and drinks, good vibes. Mondays need never be blue or stormy again.

Check my Doctor D FB page for the latest programme.

PS This is why I’ve been a bit quiet on WP recently.
