South Australia commemorates its founding under the Old Gum Tree, Glenelg. The Mayor of Glenelg, Stephen Patterson, welcomes incoming Governor Hieu Van Lee, a former refugee from Vietnam, to the 178th Proclamation (or “Proccie”) Day. Earlier Robert Taylor gave an inspiring Welcome to Country and a traditional aboriginal song to bless the land. Afterwards, of course, there’s a barbecue.
