Starting from our home beach Glenelg, we planned a day of wine tasting and fine dining in McLaren Vale (we did this), but also ended up visiting four beaches in one day.

Being jet-lagged provided the perfect opportunity to watch the sunrise- and the dawn rush hour. Early morning is the busiest time of day- the esplanade is a superhighway for runners, joggers, cyclists and insomniacs; the beach is awash with strollers, paddlers, photographers, dogs, owners, beachcombers inspecting the morning sea harvest (today hundreds of cuttlefish bones).
It seems that the whole of Adelaide is at the beach… But it’s not crowded. Strolling from Glenelg to Somerton along the beach, we met our friends more or less by chance (as you do here). Everyone was out, in boats, boards, swimming even, but it still didn’t feel crowded. The low tide yielded a
