Summer in London is proving to be colder than Adelaide in winter. The main evidence of the season is the flowers- vibrant colours even under the grey skies, pockets of beauty sprinkled through the dense terraces of brick and mortar, whispering of a tranquility beyond the busy streets.
The parks are not yet full of picnickers and sun worshipers, the beer gardens are only colonised by smokers, sales of summer apparel in the shops are slow, no one knows quite what to wear. The British are always talking about the weather- because it’s so unpredictable. Rumour of a warm weekend is hot news, but until then we’re left with the flowers, promises of a summer not yet arrived.
